In response to Wolfstar's blog post: PR doesn't need to get social media wrong again

NOTE: I originally tried to post this on the Wolfstar Blog but the comments function appeared to be playing up - I will post there once the issue has been resolved - in the meantime, here is my response.

Dear Jed (and Stuart)

I'm disappointed that you have made the decision to publicly comment on this, but social media / blogging is an open medium and everyone in entitled to their opinions.

I'm also quite happy to be honest and up front about what you have said.

As you might appreciate, the initial stages of any agency migration over to a new piece of work is a challenging time, especially given the volume of news some brands generate.

In recognising both of these facts, we were simply attempting to show the recipients we did have their needs / wants in mind, giving them to the option to opt out, helping us to make our dealings with them as tailored as possible as we move forward.

As a blogger myself, I appreciate the spam-like reputation PR agencies often receive and had these thoughts very much in mind in this instance.

The bloggers that did respond to our open and honest communication (directly) were very thankful for our approach.

As mentioned up top, its a shame you have chosen to take this route and I appreciate the support others have provided.

Thanks
